Lost shirts!

So I found a shirt yesterday that I'd been looking weeks for while we were cleaning. I didn't realize til I put it on however just how many weeks I'd been looking for it! Below are two pictures- the first is me at 19wks pregnant. We had just found out we were having a boy and hasn't settled on a name yet. The second is me this afternoon at 30wks pregnant in the same shirt with Baby Ben kicking away! I can't believe that in another 10wks (give or take) we'll finally get to meet our little boy. It'll be here before we know it!

Inauguration Day Festivities

Not really, since today also happened to be MLK day I had the day off! My darling hubby though did not, so it was my day to catch up on all the junk tv shows I've been DVRing (the Kardashians are a guilty pleasure...don't judge!) and watching the updates on the Inaugural festivities that have been consuming our local area. You would think that being this close to our nation's capital AND having the day off would seem like a perfect excuse to head out to the Mall to be a part of history, but why would I do that when I have the best view in the house from my couch?

Or the massage chair where I got my toes painted today :-) in recent weeks I have discovered that I can no longer reach my feet long enough to do anything. Alex has to tie my boots for me when I get ready for work in the mornings because I can't reach them anymore. On the bright side, I can still wear those bad boys! Actually a lot of other military moms have told me that wearing the boots actually helped keep the feet swelling down to a minimum, and so far they've been right. No complaining here!

Lil man has been ever so squirmy and kept me occupied today while I was hanging with my couch buddy (pictured below). We have another check up next week! Can't believe he's going to be here in a few months!

So aside from watching TV and trying to use the day to get what little nesting I could do without going up and down the stairs too much (in my ever growing blimp-like state I get winded pretty easily these days) today was a pretty uneventful!

28 Week Bump Pic!

This pic was actually taken on Sunday, sorry my eyes were closed lol. I've been too lazy to take another good pic. And by lazy I mean, I come home from work sit in my couch and get stuck there. Literally, it takes me a few scoots to get out of the darn thing now, and it's only getting worse. Don't even get me started about getting out of the car. If it weren't for the steering wheel that gave me some leverage this morning I would have been totally hosed. I'll be 29 weeks on Saturday, only 11 more to go!

Our little ...diver?

Today we had our final Level II ultrasound with the prenatal assessment clinic! It was great to finally see our little Ben! Though he's actually not that little- the OB's exact words in regards to his head were "well, it's definitely not the smallest head I've seen" (smirk included) :-) She also went on to tell us that her first baby ended up not coming out the natural way (aka C-section). Soooo in other words, I'm trying to mentally prepare myself for that being a definite possibility with Ben lol! Who knows though right?!

You'll notice in the pic the afore mentioned big noggin and also his feet, which were up by his face when we took pictures today. Essentially this little guy was practicing his high dive stance, or yoga, either way he probably won't be able to do that again in a few years lol!

We don't know nuthin about birthin no babies Miss Scarlet!

But now we do! 28 weeks pregnant and we figured now was as good a time as any to take one of the child care classes offered at Walter Reed. We started the class this morning at 9am and we didn't leave til 5pm. It was a LONG day, but we got a lot of helpful tips for the labor process. Alex got lots of tips on how to be a good coach! Not to mention what to expect after baby gets here! So hopefully we won't be caught completely off guard by anything that could happen once we get there. Of course the key is always to be flexible! Only a few more months to go now!

MTV Cribs pt 2!

All done! Now we just have to finish the rest of the nursery! We have the furniture, but now that we've got the crib set up its as if we've suddenly realized how much we have left to do. 27 weeks down...13 to go!

MTV Cribs

The last of the baby room furniture has arrived! We got a knock on our door about ten minutes ago and now we're upstairs putting the crib together! Well, Alex is (hence the beer) putting it together, I'm just here to take pictures! More to come!

Facebook and Angry Tags

Today Alex and I shut down our Facebook accounts. It was a hard decision, we've both had our accounts for nearly seven years ( back when Facebook was only open to college students) and over the years it's been a great way to keep in touch with friends from high school, college, and work. Honestly though, it'd become something like an addiction, for me at least. "I can get rid of it anytime I want" and yet I never did. Then of course there were the ever growing privacy concerns and constantly changing settings, etc...It seemed like every time I turned on the news there was a new story about how Facebook was in the midst of a scandal for something. I finally had enough, and felt like I needed to take an active roll in keeping in touch with people. I can't talk for Alex but I'm guessing he was on the same page cause it really wasn't much of a discussion, I said I was gonna get rid of mine and he said "cool, me too." Then it was just a matter of actually doing it. As you can tell by the screen shot above if either of us fall back on the website wagon we can just sign in again, but I think we'll be ok. Not having it (going on five hours now) is going to force me to be a much better blogger and a better e-mail buddy! Not to mention I've taken up twitter too, it's what I loved about Facebook without all the extra crap! (Follow me at @beearly2 if your interested!)

In other news, I set up our Fischer Price napper/rocker yesterday and for the rest of the day the fur balls hadn't really cared much for it. It was surprising to us because it took Buff (pictured left) about two seconds to hop into the bouncy seat my sister got for us. And the pack-n-play...and the basket at the bottom of the stroller...and the changing table...He likes to jump in things.  Well today, Buff discovered the tags on the underside of the rocker, and as you can tell, decided that they must die. He spent about ten minutes attacking them before deciding (in true cat fashion) that it was nap time instead. I fully expect a re-attack later tonight.

Also, I'm pretty sure that Ben is practicing to become a super hero when he comes to outside world. Each day I feel more and more wiggles and jabs, and they're becoming stronger. It doesn't help that he'll have a ton of super hero related gear by the time he gets here too. I wont spoil all of it...but this kid is going to one well dressed super kid!

Fire Drills in the OB Clinic!

So this morning Alex and I had our 26wk baby check up at Walter Reed Bethesda Naval Medical Center (hereby referred too as Walter Reed or WR).

To catch folks up, I'm being seen there instead of at Andrews because they have a complicated OB clinic and I have a history of blood clots in my legs (I've gotten two before). Since being pregnant automatically makes you more likely to get blood clots in your legs, this makes me higher risk. I'm taking anti-coagulant shots twice a day, and my levels are monitored monthly. It sounds scary but if all I have to do is take shots twice a day until this munchkin gets here, I can't really complain that much.

After battling traffic on the beltway (surprisingly not that bad this morning) we actually ended up at our appointment really early (we're always Early ha ha). They check me in, do the usual run up (blood pressure, weight, temp) and put us in the exam room. Almost as soon as the nurse closes the door an alarm starts going off. Alex and I look at each other, and after we process what it might be, he opens the door to see if we need to evacuate the building. "it doesn't look like the people that work here know" he laughed. Well great, now what? Finally, the head nurse grabs her coat and with a smile tells us to follow her. We then proceed with everyone else in the OB clinic outside to the rally point. Side note: it was 30 degrees outside :)

About 20 minutes later we're back in our exam room, and the doc finally comes in to do the check up. Since my clotting levels have been good, and I haven't had any other major issues with baby growing so far so they are moving me from the Complicated OB clinic to Senior OB clinic, so I'll still be seen by a physician instead of a nurse or midwife like in the regular OB clinic. We got to hear baby Ben's heartbeat, even though he squirmed around a ton and she couldn't get a solid heart rate. Signs of things to come perhaps, a little squirmy child in our future!

We didn't get an ultrasound, though we were both really hoping for it. However, we do have another growth ultrasound in about a week so we'll get lots of good pics then and I'll be sure to post them here with baby updates! Until then, here's a picture of this awesome onsie Alex's mom got us! How cute is baby Capt America?!

New Years Eve-Preggo Style!

This year instead of Champagne at midnight we celebrated the start of 2013 with sparkling apple cider at around 9pm... because by 10:30 mama-to-be was out like a light! Here's to the new and exciting adventures to come this year! Happy New Year!
